Owner and Family Working on Vacation Home!

Long time Seadrift owner Ida Lou Glass has owned her home on the ocean since 1971. She and her son, Ron, along with his children have been working hard to make some improvements in preparation for a busy summer.

The Glasses build a new fence for their Seadrift home

The Glasses have enjoyed this long ownership at the Beach, while also sharing the home with many families, some of whom have come to this house every year for over 25 years! Seeing families enjoy their properties is one of the wonderful returns of the vacation rental business.

On the left, the back yard before the new fence. The family trimmed back the bushes and trees, providing more usable space for guests, then built a new fence (work-in-progress).

By the same idea, having children come to this and other homes with children in car seats and now having them come back with their babies in car seats is always a joy. It makes me feel the passage of time even more strongly! Stinson Beach is in the blood of so many families.

As a child, I used to come to Stinson Beach, as did my Mother. Now I bring my grandchildren. The evolution from the days of taking the Crookedest Railroad to get from Mill Valley to the top of Mt. Tam have evolved to hundreds of bicyclists, motorcyclists and cars flooding the mountain roads.

Spring in Stinson Beach is in full swing with green hills, great waves and wildflowers everywhere. It is the best time of year to explore the wonderful trails that surround the Stinson Beach and Bolinas communities.

One of the many trails that offer amazing views of the ocean as well as wonderful forest paths, is the Steep Ravine Trail. Easy to access at the Pantoll Ranger Station on Mt. Tamalpais, it will take you through the Redwood Forest, with waterfalls still flowing for that perfect cooling touch to a warm hike.

Look for the beautiful Zigadene Lily wildflower. Lean down and check the out the haunting fragrance. The fragrance is most noticeable toward evening but in the darker haunts of the forest you might be fortunate!

Welcome to the first posting of the Seadrift Realty web blog where we hope to provide information about happenings in the Stinson Beach/Seadrift area.

Seadrift Realty has been here in Stinson Beach for over 35 years. Our office staff, Katie Beacock, Betsy Wood, William Barrett, Gary Martin, Heidi Ryerson and Hannah Crutcher will all be posting thoughts at various times with views of life on the "Fault Line."

We have a window on the wonderful views of Mt. Tam Ridge with the kite surfer parachutes off to the South of the office windows! We hope this site will offer tips on things to do here in the area, how the surf is, bird sightings, wild flowers and whatever comes to any of our minds. We hope that some of you will be moved to share your views of things in Stinson Beach.

We would love to hear from some of our past guests as to what they liked about their stay and what their family enjoys doing in Stinson Beach/Seadrift. Anybody have a favorite hiking/biking trail to talk about? How about tips on the best bird watching spots? We would love to hear from as many of you as are interested.
